A DO's desk
When choosing glasses, would you like to spend some time alone or would you like to be helped and supported through? In my Practice time, I have come across a range of customers in a good mix.
I know what I want - If you are this customer, you want to be left alone. You will usually tell the staff that, you will approach them after you have selected the frames. However, you should be aware of the following:
Advantages
- You take your time and not influenced by anyone and choose the pair you like. This is great.
Disadvantages
- A successful complete pair of Spectacles is a mixture of Art and Science. You can take care of the Artistic, aesthetic decisions, however the science on what will be the best pair of frames for your prescription and lenses may need a small intervention.
- Also, if you do not use the free help in the Science part, you might miss out on a particular lens that is new and you were not aware of.
I always get the same - This is a simple straightforward option. However, it is important to remember that if your previous pair(s) have been wrongly dispensed then we believe you need be open about what is wrong and make new choices of frames and lenses that will solve the issue you had.
If you have been very happy and the new choice also is the right one, then asking for an expert advice is just confirming your choices.
I would need a professional help - This customer knows their prescription is complicated and they will need some help all the way through. The only disadvantage is, you need to be sure that you got the right colleague who does not put sales in front of your visual needs.
