Heard of the term Adaptation or Adapting period ?

When you bought a new pair of shoes, you would have noticed some difference in the way they feel, style of walk may seem different, wearing them and taking them off is different and in extreme cases, until the shoes blend into the shape of your feet, it may hurt a bit. However, provided you have the right pair of shoes, they will eventually turn out to be a great fit

Glasses work in the same way. Your brain and eyes are so closely linked and the moment you present with a new pair of glasses, your brain will notice the difference, it will try to reject. However, time is key for your brain to appreciate the image the eye is captured and start processing it. Adaptation is key when it comes to glasses, and this may take up to 4 weeks and even months in some cases to get used to a new pair of glasses.
If your new glasses match all the parameters to what it should be, then it is worth taking some time to adapt to them.
Factors making adaptation worse

• Large change in your prescription.
• A higher difference in the style and size of the frame you are wearing.
• A different material of higher index lenses.
• You feel that the eye test process was not great although the prescription is right. You lack confidence in the person who did the test. So, you feel a second opinion would be good.

Length of adaptation
On average, it takes 3 to 4 weeks to get used to your new pair of glasses.
During adaptation period

• Wear glasses indoors and we advise not to drive until you are happy.
• Be careful, especially when you are walking up and down the stairs.
• When getting in and out of trains and tubes, please pay attention.
• Watch TV and read a book and these are two great examples of tasks that help you get used to your new glasses.

What if you are still not happy:
At Specsonweb, your glasses are covered for 60 days, in other words eight weeks to get used to your glasses. This is double the time that an average adaptation takes.
