A DO's desk
I thought online glasses will be cheaper?
This part is about how we set our prices and yes, this is a lot to do with the support we provide to give you the right pair of glasses.
When it comes to setting the price for our frames, we look at the material, the feel and the workings of the frame, the lens compatibility with the prescription, how user friendly it is for the lab to work on the frame, its level of adjustability, cost of the frame from the manufacturer and the brand.
After nearly two decades of experience in handling frames, our hands and minds naturally start to analyse the eyewear we are holding against these stringent criteria.
Online glasses does not have to be of poorer quality and cheap, instead we believe it should do more for the price.
The good thing in Specsonweb is, we do not sell any mainstream brands, and this means our costing is purely based on the frame itself. We do not buy in bulk, because we want to keep our designs fresh even to our repeat customers. That being said, if you like a frame, you can always email us even if it is not on display and we will do our best to find a replacement.
Our prices may seem a little steep than other similar online eyewear stores. This is because, we are not a typical volume online retailer, instead we are unique in our products, we work with Opticians to give you the advice and the support through ensuring you get the right pair of glasses. So, you are never alone in choosing a pair of glasses. It is just like walking into a high street optician and having an in-store person helping.
This is our unique position, and we are very proud of it. We want to also make sure we are competitive enough; hence we have several promotional campaigns and presently sell frames from £16.20 at the time of writing this article.
